If you head towards Sai from Akaishi Beach, you will find a coastline of pillar-shaped rocks called the Zaimoku Rocks. Cape Tsubana is the border between Oma Town and Sai Village. It can be reached in about 5 minutes on foot from the entrance to Zaimoku Disaster Prevention Park. There is walking trail in the area near a colony of day lilies that bloom in bright yellow in early summer. Please also pay attention to the magnificent scenery of the prism-shaped stones (columnar joints).
All of Shimokita Peninsula has been certified as a Japanese Geopark. Shimokita Geopark also signed a cooperation agreement with Taiwan’s Yehliu Geopark in November 2017. Cape Tsubana is one of the 16 geosites in Shimokita Geopark.
