At Cape Oma, facing the Tsugaru Strait that spreads out before it, you can see the tuna monument, a monument marking the northernmost point of Honshu, and many monuments bearing poems or songs related to Oma.
Be sure to take a commemorative photo there!
There are restaurants and souvenir shops in the area.
Cape Oma is famous for its tuna bowls made with tuna from the Tsugaru Strait, but the sun-dried octopus legs are also popular.
After enjoying a feast while gazing at the sea, please stop by the souvenir shops.
Be sure to pick up some local products, such as tuna goods and various species of harvested kelp.

【Request】During Obon and Golden Week, parking lot 1 gets full and cars are often seen parking on the street.
On-street parking is prohibited around Cape Oma. Two-wheeled vehicles, including motorcycles, are prohibited near the Tuna Monument.
To ensure a safe and secure sightseeing experience for everyone, please use parking lot 2 when parking lot 1 is full.
■Cape Oma Rest House
This year, the facility will be open as a free rest area.

・There are no guides nor tourism staff on-site, but maps and pamphlets of Oma and the Shimokita Peninsula will be available.Please feel free to take them with you.

・The use of fire such as bonfires and charcoal fires is prohibited. Please use the gas stove (fee required) in the cooking building.
・Please be sure to take your trash with you when you leave.
・Please refrain from making too much noise as residents’ houses are nearby.
■Restaurants, souvenir shops, and guesthouses
Many stores are open seasonally from Golden Week through to the end of October, but some are open year-round.
