On October 1st, Oma welcomed their first ever local vitalization member to the town. Her name is Kyo Bunn Shi, a 25 year old woman from Anhui Province in China. Currently she is in the first year of earning her doctorate at Hirosaki University’s graduate school. She researched the differences in the living conditions of elderly communities in China and Japan when she earned her master’s degree. To come to Oma, Ms. Kyo already earned most of her doctorate course credits last semester.
Now, Ms. Kyo’s job in Oma will be public relations for Oma in Taiwan and China. She is enthusiastic about her new position. She says, “The first time I came to Oma, I realized that it is a very special place in Japan. It’s a shame that more travelers from abroad don’t know about this wonderful town, so I’ll do my best to bring more foreigners and young people to Oma.” Please give her a warm welcome.
